China International Adoption Program*

tundra to coastal plains, China offers the entire spectrum of physical
landscapes. Similarily, the varied geography has produced a long history
and culture dating back over 5,000 years, in the world's most populated
nation. Of particular note are Chinese porcelain, calligraphy and
renowned Chinese philosophy, literature and martial arts. In addition to
dramatic country landscapes, the captial of Beijing and other cities
present great urban centers.
The majority of children available for adoption in the Chinese adoption program are girls, ranging in age from 9-18 months. In some cases, toddler and older-aged girls are also available.
Both married couples and single people between the ages of 30 and 45 years of age, with or without children, are eligible to adopt infant Chinese girls. People over 45 years of age may adopt toddlers, two years of age and older. At least one parent must travel to China and should expect to stay in the country from 7-10 days. Throughout a stay in China, an English speaking facilitator will guide and assist individuals through the entire adoption process.
Once your completed dossier, including INS approval, is sent to China, it will be approximately 8-10 months until you receive your assignment of a child. After you have received your visa and a letter of invitation from the Chinese government, you will be permitted to travel. This takes approximately six weeks.
